The nation of Slovenia holds a special place in my heart and that tale is best left to be told over lunch at the brass Bustle.
The article and pictures that follow are something I found on Flickr while looking for something else entirely different and I appologize for placing it in this catagory. It is something I truley wanted to share and I was getting kind of tired seeing this area remaining empty.
Festival Lent is the largest summer festival in Slovenia and one of the largest in Europe. Also ranked among best 50 European local festivities.
It takes place for about two weeks of July every year in Maribor Slovenia.
It started 15 years ago as a folklore festival on the stage, floating on the river Drava (built and dismantled anew each year) in the part of the city named Lent (from the old word used for the river harbour) - hence the name of the festival. Now it features over 20 stages and few hundred different performances, with over half a million visitors each year.
